The seven layer co-extrusion line consists of two 2.5" diameter single screw extruders followed by gear pump and static mixer and two 1.25" diameter single screw extruders. Plasticated materials from the extruders meet at the feed block and travel to the 34" wide sheet die. 12" diameter temperature controlled three stack rolls are used for polishing the sheet. An on-line thickness gauge measures the sheet thickness distribution and displays the web thickness distribution on the computer screen. Higher density foam core composites are produced using this line with chemical blowing agents. The line is also equipped with a central dehumidifying resin drier which can be used for moisture sensitive materials such as polyesters and polyamides. PET and polypropylene foam core composites were successfully produced in this line.
